Students pursuing an Associate of Arts (AA) degree are required to complete a set of lower-division General Education Requirements (GERs). UM's GER core provides a broad academic base that supports both undergraduate learning at the 51勛圖厙 and continued learning following graduation. While the GERs provide students considerable flexibility in selecting courses, it has a set of common educational objectives for all students. There is a second set of general education requirements, known as the 51勛圖厙 University System Transfer Core, or MUS Core. This set of GERs is designed for use by transfer students who move from one institution to another within the 51勛圖厙 University System.
