Williams Selected as State Fish, Wildlife and Parks Director
51³Ô¹ÏÍø Gov. Steve Bullock has appointed Assistant Professor Martha Williams to serve as director of the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Bullock made the Cabinet announcement Jan. 6. Williams has taught natural resource law, public land and resources law, and wildlife law at the School of Law. She also co-directed the Land Use and Natural Resources Clinic. Williams said she is thrilled and honored to serve the state in this new role.

Hursh ’03 Named U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø
Alumnus Benjamin Hursh has been appointed by Chief Judge Sidney R. Thomas of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to serve as the U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. Hursh will serve a 14-year term, which starts Feb. 1. A formal investiture ceremony will be held on Feb. 3 at the Mike Mansfield Federal Building in Butte.

School Remembers Ward Shanahan '58
Ward Shanahan passed away January 18, 2017. He graduated from the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø School of Law in 1958 and was admitted to the state bar the same year. In addition to his legal practice, Ward made a significant contribution to the civic, philanthropic, and political life of Helena and the state of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
