Blood Draw Kit
Children, youth, and adults with complex care needs often have to undergo blood draws more frequently. This kit is designed to help ease anxiety by allowing the child to practice the procedure on a teddy bear. Being able to mimic the experience can help normalize it and make it feel less intimidating. A family member can also read the accompanying book with the child before the procedure to help them understand what to expect.
- Encourage healthy coping skills and self-advocacy by giving children opportunities to explore and work through their experiences through play.
- Break down medical equipment and procedures in ways that are easy for kids to understand.
- Help medically complex children see themselves represented, supporting them in building confidence and embracing what makes them unique and remarkable.
